Things To Do

Wander down to Peroulia Beach, an idyllic stretch of unspoilt golden sand, deservedly considered to be the best beach along this beautiful coastline. Enjoy a swim, take a stroll or explore the quiet coves and rock pools.

Koroni with its 13thC Venetian Castle is a lively small town famous for its busy waterfront of chic cafes, bars, restaurants and shops. A little further afield discover the coastal villages of Methoni, with its vast 15thC Venetian Fortress, bustling Finikounda and Pylos, where the Battle of Navarino Bay was fought in 1827. Significant local archaeological sites include Ancient Messini founded in 371BC, the fascinating ruins of the fortress town of Mystras, Sparta with its ancient port of Gythio and, of course, historic Olympia.

For lovers of the outdoors we can suggest delightful walks along meandering coastal paths or through inland villages. There is also the nature reserve at Gialova, near Pylos, a protected wetlands area that is home to many species of birds and close to glorious beaches. Small motor boats can be hired in Pylos leaving you free to explore Navarino Bay and the more sophisticated stretch of cafes and restaurants at Gialova.

A little further on is the stunning horseshoe bay Voidokilia which is well worth a visit as is Nestor's Palace which is nearby. On the Pylos to Kalamata road you'll find the freshwater pools at Polylimnio waterfalls - the perfect place to cool down on a hot day.

Find a quiet beach, windsurf, sail or take a skippered boat to your own secluded island to picnic and explore. The Dunes and The Bay are two 18 hole signature designed golf courses, part of the Costa Navarino Resorts development in the south western Peloponnese and less than an hour's drive from BanSala.
